Holland Pavilion
< 8/8 >
The Holland Pavilion is an 800sqm event space for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Beijing. Alongside the China-Netherlands football match a 500-guest reception and a variety of cultural events was held for which we designed interior and graphic communication.
For the design we mixed visual football language with Dutch and Chinese elements to create a vibrant event space. The interior is based on a large football pitch created with green carpet. On these a series of space dividers have been designed that double up as a picture opportunity. The facade of the building has been covered with a large banner with a graphic referencing a traditional Amsterdam canal house. The logo of the event, a circle composed of red, white a blue lines, is placed on 8mtr height. This is in reference the earliest recording of football in China, where a ball had to be kicked through a hole in a cloth mounted on long bamboo canes (called CuJu).
