During Beijing Design Week 2013 we present a new furniture collection named YIFU, designed for Chinese furniture brand ACF:Home. Rather then merely presenting the new furniture pieces we used this collaboration as an example to show the process leading to the final product.
The visitor is guided in a clear presentation leading from left to right over 13 large format prints presenting everything from inspiration, sketches, technical drawings, color and materials selection to factory images of prototypes. A metal grid has been designed to hang the posters from as well to make the furniture pieces look in the right scale. As large white gallery walls can make a furniture appear out of place for its intended domestic use.
In light of Amsterdam being guest city of this years Beijing Design Week YIFU shows an unique example of how a Dutch born designer, who is permanently living and working in Beijing, works with a local furniture brand on products for the local market.
